BCCC (legal name = "Beach Cities Cycling Club, Inc.") is organized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated
to promoting cycling.
We are focused on our five public purposes:
- Provide bicycle safety education to the community;
- Establish partnerships with the local school districts to teach and encourage bicycle safety to children;
- Advocate
and publicize the development of bicycle lanes, paths, and signage to
promote safer communities and to ease tensions between motorists and
cyclists;
- Promote fundraising events for charity;
- Encourage bicycling as healthy outdoor recreation sport.
With
the COVID pandemic easing, our initial focus is restarting youth
education programs, such as or recent partnering with Torrance PTA on
Bike Rodeos. We are also encouraging volunteers interested in organizing
and championing other programs related to our five public purposes, e.g.,
- bike corrals (#5),
- bike maintenance, tire changing, and safe riding techniques at public
clinics. (#1),
- advocacy and education for community leaders and policy makers (#1 and #3)
- community fundraising rides for charity (#4) such as Wounded Warriors
